Rebecca Cox, Escambia County Sheriff’s Office
Nominated by: Rhonda Ray, Volunteer Coordinator with the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office.
In 2008, Ms. Cox, a portrait artist and oil painting instructor, answered a long-time calling to utilize her talent in a very different way – to help law enforcement bring justice to criminals and closure to the victims. With the encouragement and mentorship of a retiring sworn officer/forensic artist, Beckie began training in the field of forensic arts.
To date, she had received more than 300 hours of training in her field – on her own time and own expense – this in addition to the more than 45 hours per month of public service she contributes to the Escambia County sheriff’s Office. Beckie also answers the call whenever there is a need, oftentimes traveling throughout the Florida Panhandle and across state lines into lower Alabama, to assist neighboring agencies.
