Chief Douglas Baker, Fort Myers Police Department
The FCPA is proud to honor Chief Douglas Baker, as the 2009 President’s Award winner. Chief Baker has served the City of Fort Myers since 1986 becoming the Chief in December 2008. Having a background in Community Policing, Chief Baker continues to support the crime prevention concept.

Illegal Gun Bounty Program
Text and Web based Crime Tips program
C.O.P.E. Unit: Assisting prison releases returning to society in an attempt to reduce the return of criminals to the life of crime.
Operation Safe Neighborhood, a program to crack down on Illegal firearms, where in just the month of August over 36 guns were recovered, 140 traffic tickets and 39 arrests with 44 felony charges were made. So far during 2009 a total of 249 guns have been removed from the city’s streets.
